Pool Repair · Salt Systems

Salt system repair in Key West.

Low-salt warnings, a scaled cell, or a salt pool with no chlorine at all. Before anyone sells you a whole new system, we find out what actually failed, because it is usually the cell, not the system.

Signs your salt system needs service

  • A "low salt" or "check cell" warning that adding salt will not clear
  • Little or no chlorine even though the water is salted
  • Visible scale or crust on the cell plates
  • The generator reads no output, or the display is dark
  • Algae taking hold because sanitizer has quietly dropped off
  • The cell is more than three to five years old

A salt cell is a wear part. It works hard every day, and in Keys water it scales faster than most owners expect. Catching a tired cell early keeps a minor swap from turning into a green pool and a recovery bill.

What we actually check

A warning light is a symptom, not a diagnosis. We work the system in order so you only pay for the part that failed.

The cell

Inspect for scale and plate wear, clean and descale where it helps, and replace with the correct cell when it is spent.

Board & power

Diagnose and repair or replace control boards and power supplies, a common casualty of storm-season power flickers.

Water & chemistry

Confirm true salt level, stabilizer and balance, because a cell can only hold chlorine the water is set up to keep.

Thinking About Salt?

Chlorine-to-salt conversions, sized and explained.

A lot of Keys owners prefer salt for softer water and far less hands-on chlorine handling. If you are converting, we size the system to your pool, install it properly, and walk you through the real running costs and cell replacement cycle before you commit to anything.

No pressure either way. A salt system is a genuine convenience, but it is still equipment that needs the right water behind it, and we would rather you know that up front than learn it from a warning light.

Nine times out of ten a dead salt pool needs a cell, not a new system. We will tell you which one you are actually looking at.

Salt system repair questions

Why does my salt system say low salt when I just added salt?

A "low salt" or "check cell" warning often is not about salt at all. A scaled or aged cell reads low even in perfectly salted water, and cold water or low flow can trigger the same message. We test the actual salt level, inspect the cell for scale and wear, and check flow before anyone dumps in more salt that the pool did not need.

How long does a salt cell last?

Most salt cells last three to five years, sometimes a bit longer with careful cleaning and balanced water. High calcium and running the generator harder than needed both shorten that life. When a cell is genuinely spent, replacing just the cell is far cheaper than replacing the whole system.

My salt pool has no chlorine. What is wrong?

If the water is properly salted but there is no chlorine, the usual causes are a scaled or dead cell, a failed control board or power supply, or a stabilizer level too low to hold the chlorine the cell is making. We work through those in order so you are not guessing, and we get sanitizer back in your water fast.

Can you replace a salt cell or repair the control board?

Yes to both. We clean and descale cells, replace worn cells with the correct model for your system, and diagnose and repair or replace the control board and power supply. Keys storm-season power flickers are hard on these boards, so we see plenty of them.

Can you convert my chlorine pool to salt?

Yes. We install salt systems and convert traditional chlorine pools to saltwater, which many Keys owners prefer for softer water and less hands-on chlorine handling. We will size the system to your pool and explain the real running costs before you commit. Call 305-731-4448.
