The chlorine smell
A spa that reeks of chlorine usually has a chloramine problem, not too much sanitizer. Heat and bather load create combined chlorine, and the fix is a proper shock, not more tablets.
Scale and cloudy jets

No amount of balancing beats fresh water in a spa. Because a hot tub holds so little, dissolved solids, old chemistry and byproducts build up in months, not years. We manage the drain-and-refill cycle for you, usually every three to four months and sooner with heavy or guest use, so the water is genuinely fresh rather than just chemically propped up.
Unlike a Keys in-ground pool, which you should never fully drain, a spa is small and above the water table, so a full refill is routine and safe. It is one of the biggest differences between water that feels clean and water that only tests clean.

How often should a spa or hot tub be serviced?
Weekly is the right baseline. Hot water moves through sanitizer and shifts pH far faster than a pool, and a spa with heavy or guest use needs even closer attention. Small water rewards a steady schedule and punishes a skipped week.
How often should I drain and refill my hot tub?
Roughly every three to four months for a home spa, sooner with heavy use. The rule of thumb is the volume divided by ten times the daily bathers, in days. Because a spa holds so little water, dissolved solids and old chemistry build up quickly, and no amount of balancing beats fresh water on schedule.
Why does my spa foam?
Foam comes from body oils, lotions and soaps combined with water that is tired or low in calcium. We clean the water, correct the balance and, when it is time, drain and refill. Anti-foam products only hide it for an evening.
Why does my hot tub smell strongly of chlorine?
That sharp smell is combined chlorine (chloramine), which forms when sanitizer reacts with sweat and oils in hot water. It means the spa needs to be shocked to clear the chloramines, not dosed with more tablets.
