FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about pool service in Key West.
What areas do you serve?
We are based at 800 14th St in Key West and serve Key West, Stock Island and the Lower Keys. We are the only pool service company with its office, owners and full fleet physically on the island.
What are your pricing options for pool services?
We provide monthly pricing for residential weekly service with chemicals included, commercial programs at 3, 5 or 7 days a week, weekly spa care and chemical-and-equipment-only plans. Every quote starts with a free on-site inspection of your equipment and chemistry, so pricing reflects what your pool actually needs. Contact us at 305-731-4448 for a quote.
Do you really inspect the pool for free before quoting?
Yes. Every service quote includes a free comprehensive inspection of your pool systems and a written report of our findings. The only paid inspection we offer is the $250 new home buyer inspection and report, and that fee is credited toward your service if you join a monthly plan.
How fast do you respond when something breaks?
Because our entire operation is based in Key West, urgent problems are typically answered the same day, in hours rather than days. For hotels, resorts and vacation rentals with guests on the property, that response time is the core of our service.
Are your technicians certified for commercial pools?
Yes. Every technician is Florida Department of Health state certified. We handle DOH compliance, regulations and inspection readiness for commercial pools across Key West, and we hold Florida license CBC1257354.
Do you include chemicals in residential service?
Yes. Our once-a-week residential service includes chemicals in the monthly rate, along with water balancing, cleaning, filter maintenance and an equipment check on every visit.
Can you service pools for vacation rentals with changing guests?
Yes, that is one of our specialties. We schedule around your turnover calendar, document visits with photos, and balance water for heavy, unpredictable bathing loads so the pool is guest-ready at every check-in.
How long have you been in business?
Keys Pool Service & Design has served Key West and the Lower Keys since 2003, and has been voted #1 by Best of Key West for commercial and residential pool service 10 years running. We currently service 90% of Key West's premier resorts.
Do you repair pool equipment without a maintenance agreement?
Yes. We do not require a contract or a monthly plan to make a repair. Call us with a broken pump, heater, filter or salt system and we will diagnose and fix it, whether or not you are a weekly service customer.
Do you offer 24-hour emergency pool repair?
Yes. We keep 24-hour emergency service across Key West and the Lower Keys for urgent failures like a dead pump on a full pool or a leak at the equipment pad. Our regular service hours are 7 AM to 4 PM, seven days a week, with the office open weekdays 9 AM to 4 PM.
Do you repair heat pumps and gas pool heaters?
Both. We diagnose and repair gas heaters and heat pumps, from ignition, sensor and control-board faults to low-flow and corrosion issues, and we advise honestly on repair versus replacement before quoting a new unit.
Do you replace salt cells and service salt systems?
Yes. We clean and descale salt cells, replace worn cells with the correct model, repair control boards and power supplies, troubleshoot low-salt and no-chlorine faults, and convert chlorine pools to saltwater.
What does 'chemicals included' not cover?
Your monthly residential rate covers the routine chemicals needed to keep balanced water week to week. It does not cover equipment, parts and repairs, or one-time large additions such as salt for a brand-new fill or a heavy green-to-clean recovery. We tell you before any of that is needed, never after.
How far into the Lower Keys do you travel?
We start at Mile Marker 0 in Key West and serve everything up to Big Pine Key, including Stock Island, Big Coppitt, Sugarloaf, Cudjoe, Summerland, Ramrod and Little Torch. If you are unsure whether you are in range, call us at 305-731-4448.
How long does a home buyer pool inspection take?
The on-site inspection typically takes about an hour, covering the pool surface, plumbing and the equipment pad. You receive a clear written report afterward, and the $250 fee is credited toward service if you join a monthly plan.
Can an off-island owner get photos of each service visit?
Yes. We photo-document our visits, which is especially useful for off-island owners and property managers who cannot be there in person. You get eyes on your pool and equipment without having to be in the Keys.
Do you service spas and hot tubs separately from pools?
Yes. We offer weekly spa care on its own or alongside pool service, covering water balancing, surface scrubbing, filter maintenance and equipment checks for spas and hot tubs, including vacation-rental hot tubs.
